Drom Taberna – Toronto Review

Drom Taberna

A big fan of live music, great food, and above-average drinks? Head over to Drom on Queen.

Drom pulls in a crowd anywhere form 23-43 with an open mindset of “we love to party, and f*** going mainstream.” Seriously, it reminded us of New Orleans and their “never-ending” party mentality. It was lit.

Drom always has live bands playing all night, from Jazz to blues, and maybe even some hip-hop sounds, it is in the race to be one of the best venues for live music. If you want guaranteed good vibes, you go to Drom.

The owners are a group of 5 people who literally said they didn’t want to be like “all the other mainstream spots in town,” and guess what that means? Cheap imported liquor from Europe – nothing higher than $8 – and delicious home-cooked food – they offer a lot of vegan options.

There is no dress code, though you don’t want to look silly. A nice t-shirt and jeans are fine or a dress and heels would equally be accepted but not recommended.

The vibe here is open, light, and welcoming but conversations can only happen between set breaks because the music is extremely, extremely loud. This is a good pre-game place, or just somewhere to hang out with a buddy all night.

It is also a cute romance spot to take a date if you’re on the 3rd date and already feel comfortable, or even the 1st date if you’re shy and don’t want to be talking too much. Lots of couples come here, but also single party lovers who enjoy music and good alcohol. They’re also open until 4 am all summer – and don’t charge cover.

Overall, the best place to go if you’re looking for home vibes, cheap booze, and good apple pie. They will be seeing us again, our pre-drink game is strong.

Cube – Toronto Review

Cube review

Looking for a dazzling place this weekend but also wanting to sit on the patio on a gorgeous summer day in Toronto? Look no further than Cube.

Cube is located on Queen St. West and has one of the most stunning patios there is in the city. Open Saturday’s and Sunday’s Cube caters to a more upscale, mature crowd ready to mingle and sip on fancy cocktails. They also have constant events that you can keep up with on their website, or social media platforms.

The atmosphere here is a little more stuck up than other places but is still such a vibe that it doesn’t really matter. The staff is fairly nice here and willing to answer questions if you have any. The drinks here are a little more price wise, but worth it with how good they are.
Dress code is always in full effect each time Cube is open, they are strict and won’t let you in unless you’re in line. Things not to wear: jerseys, satchels, fanny packs, flip-flops, boots and any other random thing that isn’t a nice dress/skirt with heels, or a nice black t-shirt or button up with jeans.

They offer bottle packages that range from $550-$980 depending on what you want, what you like, and how lit you and your friends are trying to get. Cube also has a basic food menu that isn’t super impressive, but if you like to munch on hummus or tortilla chips then it’s perfect for you.

The ratio is roughly 50:50 and attracts people with good vibes. It isn’t a place you would want to go alone, but it also isn’t a place you wouldn’t have to BYOG(bring your own girl).

In a nutshell, Cube would be a great place to start the night off at with the refreshing air, and beautiful black and gold decor. It’ll be seeing the Nokturnal Group occasional for a pre-drink – or 5.

APT 200 – Toronto Review

APT 200 Club Review

Have any of you ever seen Friends? You know how they always look like they’re having the best time in Monica’s apartment and you’re like, “wow I wish I could go somewhere like that with my friends,”?

We have the answer! Apt 200 in Toronto is located on Queen West and gives that vibe that you’re about to go party at your friend’s apartment with your friends.

As you walk up the bar you pass a hallway filled with graffiti, it looks nothing compared the inside – don’t worry, keep walking.

As soon as you reach the top you see an upscale bar/lounge filled with beautiful decor, good music, and an overall great vibe. Apt 200 is open every day from 8pm-2:30am but gets really packed during the weekend.

It’s a great place to hang out with friends, play free pool and video games, drink great cocktails, watch some sports, and even bring a date – let her win. They also have their own Apt 200 brew on tap with a few others.

Decent price for everything, and no cover. It’s separated into sections of games, pool tables, a bar, and then at the back there is a bigger bar with a place to dance. Friday and Saturday nights people pour in, the music gets louder, but somehow the bar never loses its comfy home vibe. Incredible.

This would be an ideal pre-game place, date place, or “let’s decompress from the weekend at a chill place,” kinda place. Dress code is to look nice, but nothing fancy. I wouldn’t say wear your best clubbing outfit, but definitely, don’t look like you just rolled out of bed. That would be a shame for you, and for your friends. Always dress like you know where you want to go in life – pro tip.
