Soubois – Montreal Review

Soubois

Soubois is a bar and a nightclub, located in an underground forest at the core of Montréal’s downtown area. You can tell Soubois aims to create an intimate and cozy atmosphere.

When you walk in you will go down the stairs and enter their “chalet” area with couches, wood paneling and a fireplace. To your left of the main area is the restaurant but double as an underground enchanted forest. That’s awesome.

The cocktails here are mixed well, and the area is fairly discrete which makes it perfect for a little date, private event or just a chill dinner with friends. Then after dinner, this place turns into a nightclub killing 2 birds with one stone.

The crowd is very mature and dressed nicely. You almost feel like you’ve walked into a nice movie set with the decor and the beautiful clientele. Women wore elegant dresses with the shoes that you want to have in your shoe closet but just can’t seem to get the right pair. Men were suited up, or in a very casual outfit that still screamed money – how they pull it off, were unsure.

Bottle service runs from roughly $800-1,000 and increases depending on what you want. There isn’t a cover charge if you’re in the restaurant before the club starts, but if you’re coming after then it ranges from $15-40 depending.

This is a really great spot to have dinner, a couple of drinks and then head out for the night. The club hasn’t figured out their music situation yet which is a damn shame. If they have a proper DJ this would be top 5 places in Montréal, however, it doesn’t make the cut.

Overall, we like the decor, the food and, the drinks. Mr.Nokturnal enjoyed it and might be back if they get a new DJ.

Le Cinq – Montreal Review

Le Cinq

This review is simply just a warning not to go to the club if you want to have a fun night.

Le Cinq is a nice venue. It has two floors, the upstairs is more of a bar/lounge type and the downstairs is a spacious club.

When the Nokturnal group toured Canada, we visited Le Cinq and wish we hadn’t. The washrooms were probably some of the most disgusting washrooms we’ve ever seen, and the downstairs club was not bumping, at all.

11:30 pm on a Friday event night – which was a twerk contest – and there were 5 people in the club, excluding us. We waited 30 mins to give it a shot, and no one besides the staff walked through the doors.

The staff was really friendly, but not upfront about the situation, which they never are anyways. However, it would’ve saved us a lot of time and brain cells. Cover charge is cheaper for women than men, and drinks are average $9-13.

Bottle service is available, but that doesn’t matter when no one is in the club. You’re better off going to the liquor store and buying a bottle to drink on the streets with people around – even though it’s illegal in Canada.

Music is hip-hop, trap, and some house. The 5 people there were dressed in typical club attire, dresses, heels, or a cute jumpsuit. Men wore button-ups and jeans. The girls in the twerking contest wore spandex and some volleyball knee pads, so that brought in diversity.

What else is there to say? Besides, don’t go to this club unless you want to waste your time and money. The upstairs was half bumping though, but you can’t go up unless you re-pay the cover charge to have access to both places.

Le Cinq will for sure never be seeing us again.
